great watch, very good battery life, average wrist band
Got this watch to remember our spiritual practices, called hourly practices for a student of STEPS TO KNOWLEDGE: The ebook OF INNER KNOWING by Marshall Summer seasons. (awarded Book Of the Year to get Spirituality for the year 2000 by way of Foreward magazine). Steps to Knowledge: It of Inner Knowing : Spiritual Preparation to have Emerging World (New Knowledge Library)
Likewise, brand new book out in Folk. 09 is: The Great Waves associated with Change: Navigating the Difficult Times In advance 4 free chapters you can find the website online or greatwavesofchangeDOTorg if you want to go directly. i highly recommend the spiritual practice which is self review format that STEPS is, and When i highly recommend the Great Waves book. They'll change your life for the more effective, and the best part is, you receive change the only thing you can easily in life, yourself, while you're understanding it.
I will probably end right up getting a metal band for this, because I need to feel it is vibration every hour on the time.
Watch does a good job with giving you 5 separate alarms you are able to set. The vibrating function works, however, warning for those with little / lean wrists: the band loosens as the idea gets broken in, and the vibrating has become harder to feel, particularly when I'm working and moving at operate. Still, if this watch had metallic band, and solar powering or two solar/battery power to it: understand casio, it would be ideal. (The actual fishing stuff to me, a metropolis dweller still at this point, will be ancillary and perhaps will be beneficial in the power down future, but That's not me going to review them because That's not me using them, ask a fishing dude.)
Next good thing, I was relieved upon opening the manual to make sure they li-ion battery is required to last 5 years even with a 'night light' function being used, sensors being used, and several vibrating compare home security systems being used every day, for 5 years. Now, that is not hourly vibrating alarms used everyday for 5 many years, but still, I figure I'll receive 3-4 year out of them, and that is good. Comment upon that: i used to be qualified to shut off the vibrating function around the hour when I went to base, now, for whatever reason, it will show off on the alarm settings screen then "on" on the entire screens, so it keeps alarming out and about all night on my wrist; I would probably take this thing off at night actually just so i don't damage it. When I find the guidebook, I'll try to see how to remedy this problem, which, over time will probably be significant to battery life. The frightens can be set, by the manner, to vibrate or audible alarm, certainly not both, as on some competitor's wristwatches. Furthermore, the vibrate is a kind of triplet it would feel like " ee-e-eeee" that lasts in terms of a second in total duration. So, certainly, a bit hard to tell it is there after the band has began to get loose on my thin arms. So, at some point, I'm more likely to need to get a replacement power supply which you're not supposed to upgrade yourself, I think in the manual they ask you to take this to a jeweler or somebody who is going to crack open the case and certainly not ruin the watch's water resistance skill, I think this may void your warranty if casio discerns in upcoming warranty work that you've tried to hack open the watch casing yourself: becasue it is supposed to be water resistant.
Furthermore, in looking at it now, the picture doesn't show it very well but there's an approximately 1/8" deep an area of the watch that sticks out into the location where the pin for the check out wrist band would go through to carry the wrist band to the observe, its black and below the brown lightly night light button (& the face of your watch as well as above the eye on the top side): point...this may probably make buying a replacement material or fabric or velcro band tricky, because of that part of the particular plastic sticking out on both the very best and bottom sides. I don't understand maybe this is a standard check out feature, just on this 'manly check out' its a little more bulky and also oversized for 'manly' appearance appealing design/marketing reasons....apparently.
Good wait for the function I wanted, pretty fair price, probably have to upgrade the strap and replace the batteries, which, in most watch cases, I'd have to do anyway at some point, just a lot quicker with the band on this 1 I'm afraid.
UPDATE 6.1.2011: Just had to order new band on here. 2 year wedding ring life--below my expectation certainly...
Nevertheless not using it for fishing. Neither will I for probably another 3-5yrs. Band has continued to disintegrate, brand new bands are $20 each, and seem to be the only thing that fits this kind of big guy.
Not sure at this time, after 2 years with this enjoy, how much battery power the view has left in it, as the opportunity to TURN OFF the Vibration function stopped working inside of 5 months following buying the watch. Hopefully, the energy are affordable enough to replace, I'm guessing 12-15$ usd.
That remaining said, its not the plastic the main band that has broken down in me since I bought this, it is the leather pieces which connect the plastic material band to the pins that link the band to the watch. Fairly noticeable breakdown under wet conditions, i always work in, periodically throughout the time. The watch doesn't get soaked, playing with washing my hands so much, this rock band has gotten to the point where there are wispy fibers of leather left, and not much else, when the plastic extended into the part of your band that attaches to the look at itself, this could be avoided.
The retail price looks like it has dropped $20 bucks in 2 years, benefit. And, while the battery seems to be able to still be going strong, I still cannot actively command the watch to complete what I want:
1. watch can randomly go into auto illuminate style, occasionally, where when it senses the 'wrist flick' it illuminates the face.no big deal, not noticed ever again.
2. it will not respond in order to my command to turn of this vibrate alarm function anymore, and in turn: vibrates 24/7, wasting battery, a trivial amt. of money each and every month and year, and vibrating on the actual counter at night, while I are sleeping.
Not real happy about this kind of turn of events, but, given electronics today: not exactly really surprising, they all get quirks and work arounds anyone figure out as you go, but it does 98% of what its supposed to do nearly all almost daily, for what I bought it regarding, it really helps, and the egg timer function is used daily as effectively, very handy for timing meditations or spiritual practices, so you don't to keep in mind your start time and attempt quite a few math, coming out of a yoga state, which sometimes isn't suited perfectly to such activities at first.
